peter_may
Can anybody give me information about nature photo possibilities at Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring, FL this time of year? I am interested in most all types of nature and wildlife photography, so specific information about types of habitats, critters or plants likely to be encountered, or any general impressions on this site would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.
bob_ternes
Peter...I responded to an earlier post with some information on Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring, Florida. The subject line was "What`s happening in SW Florida currently" Read my response and if that`s not enough I can elaborate some more I guess. anne_f._bellenger1
I live in nearby Avon Park and go to HH Park regularly. What exactly did you want to know about it? There are many photo ops but litle wildlife that I've seen anyway. In the 9 years I've been going there, have seen 1 egret and 1 otter. There are many good places for shooting cypress swamps and ferns and very old oak trees. Right now the water level is very low because of lack of rain. Lots of trails. Gators are supposed to be there but I've never seen one. I do some macro photography of moss and lichens and there are many of those around. On the south side of the park, outside the main gate, is a trail through the scrub. This is a dry habitat with small stunted vegetation and specially adapted wildlife. It's a unique place.
