sepia_dreams
Is there an inexpensive heat sensitive or infrared digital camera on the market? Thanks, Neal
mark u
It depends what you mean by inexpensive and heat sensitive as opposed to IR. True heat sensitive imaging relies on longer IR wavelengths, and few cameras really work well in that territory. You can have a camera converted for IR work: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/infrared%20dslr.shtml You can convert a Sigma SD10 yourself: http://heim.ifi.uio.no/~gisle/photo/ir4.html or you can look for a good IR performer among these cameras: http://www.jr-worldwi.de/photo/index.html (look under sensitivity). Exploring the far IR spectrum comes at rather greater cost: http://www.x20.org/thermal/
sepia_dreams
Thanks for the info and leads. What I'd like to do is take thermal imaging photos of objects like a house or car engine to determine heat loss/gain, so I assume a 'heat' sensitive camera. Any digital cameras on the market for under $1,000? Neal
