Francis,

In English, when one is talking about Newfoundland in the mid-80s, "jumped a plane" means gettin' off at Gander Airport while the plane was refuelling on its way to Cuba. In this case, the man in the photo, and his spouse, forced themselves off the plane physically.

Cheers,

Rory

Jack,

You may well have heard a CBC interview.

If you have been to St. John's, Luben did the big sculpture in the centre of the airport. About a month ago, about 3,000 people showed up for an installation that he did at Grand Bank in memory of Newfoundland fishermen who have died at sea. This is his web site: http://www.sculpturebyluben.com/

Johnnycake, that's special.

Brad, I love the second photograph.
