imagemk
Can someone tell me what IMHO stands for, I see it often in critique responses, but I am not getting it for some reason. Thanks, Matt.

imagemk
Thanks everyone, I knew it was probably something simple, but I am not an IMer so my brain does not often think along those lines.

hakon_soreide
Interestingly, acronyms, intended to speed up communications often have the exact opposite effect. Whenever someone actually has to ask what IMHO and other abbreviations mean, it would have been a lot easier to just write it out in the first place. Many people like their acronyms so much that they use them a bit too much as well.
I remember when I worked in the Navy when acronyms abound and one of the senior operations officers liked the abbreviation IOT (in order to) so much that often when I spellchecked radio messages I had to change it to "to" which in most cases was both better, shorter and more correct.
IMHO is often used when for instance "I think" would have been the normal thing to write or say if the abbreviation "IMHO" had not been invented. So why not say "I think" instead?
