jay_philbrick
I have searched the forums and thought I found an answer to my problem, but it is still happening. I initially submitted an image that was just under 100 kb and it was compressed by PN to 48 and there are too many jpeg artifacts. I then submitted another copy of the same image at 200 kb (as recommended in some previous threads) hoping it would still look OK if compressed again by PN. It too was compressed all the down to 48 kb (I hoped it would wind up around 100, the limit) and looks bad. Am I missing something? Thanks. mottershead
Our recompression software doesn't try to find recompression parameters that will bring the image just under 100Kb. It just specifies JPEG quality 75 (out of 100). If this results in the image being 48K, it takes it. It doesn't try other quality values until it finds one that gets the image close to 100K. It doesn't surprise me that both a 100K and a 200K image compress to 48K at quality 75, although that isn't always what happens.
carl smith
Of course, it's always amusing when a 100k image balloons to 200k.
