Pretty much everywhere in the older sections is great. Wonderful old antebellum houses. The waterfront is great, Fort Pulaski for Civil War. I actually found Savannah a smidgeon less touristy than Charleston, but both are great, and Charleston is not far away if you haven't been there yet.
There are places that run the horse-bus tours and many of them will let you park there all day free for the price of the transportation/tour. It's on and off at your will, so it's a good way to get around when you tire of walking.

00brHk-541566684.jpg.3cf071319df3607de52232d899363b18.jpg

A bus tour is a good way to get the "lay of the land." If you like photographing in cemeteries, there are three good ones in Savannah, Colonial, Bonaventure, and Laurel Grove. Colonial is the oldest and is located closest to the river. Bonaventure is the most famous with a number of famous people buried there, including Johnny Mercer. Bonaventure is famous for its elaborate monuments and statues. Laurel Grove, to me, is the most interesting photographically. It is older than Bonaventure, and many of the monuments and mausoleums are in need of repair. LG is not in the best neighborhood, but you should be fine there in the daytime.
