tony_chappell
I want to connect my Sunpak 344 speedlight on a flash bracket to my Nikon N65 camera. I'm not sure what sync cord to get, to connect my speedlight from the hotshoe on my camera body to the shoe on the bracket. I've read on other info sites that I need to use the SC-17 sync cord, does anyone else know what I need? thanks;Tony
david_h._hartman
If your speedlight is a dedicated speedlight that works in the hot shoe of your camera then the SC-17 sync cord is the correct item. If you want to use your cameras built in flash as a trigger or fill light to your Sunpak 344 you can also use a Nikon SU-4 remote TTL Slave. Hope this helps,
hal_bissinger
...to connect my speedlight from the hotshoe on my camera body to the shoe on the bracket
SC-17 remote flash cord. It has its own shoe that mounts to your bracket and accepts your flash. It's not a "sync" cord by the way and if you tire of your Sunpak you can use it with any of the Nikon dedicated flashes for full TTL control. david_h._hartman
The Nikon SC-17 TTL Remote Cord attaches to your bracket with a 1/4-20 screw. On my bracket I needed a 1/4" fender washer that was about 1" (25mm) in overall size and a 1/4-20 x 1/2" stainless steel cap screw. Dont screw a screw that is too long in as you may bust your new $55.00 toy!

Its going to go slip-sliden away if you dont have something sticky under it like a thin neoprene or vinyl washer. You may have to drill 1/4" hole in your bracket. Stop worrying and buy it, Ive got three of them honest!

Oh hell Ill throw a monkey wrench in the works. You might want a shortened one like this for $35.00 more. I do but Im too cheap...

Shortened Nikon SC-17 Cord

Go to B&H Photo and search for "SC-17" There are a bunch more ways to spend your money if you dont have a 1/4" inch hole or dont want to drill one. They run from $6.00 to $18.00.
