paul_neuthaler
Received this beauty yesterday. With 2 shots left on my M2, I shot some greenery around my house for a quick test. No shade a la Frederick's suggestion.

christopher_a._junker1
Paul, the clarity in shot #2 is outstanding. The detail in the stone post looks like you can touch it. What's the film, exposure, Hand held?

frederick_muller
You took the plunge, Paul, and the water looks fine! It would be interesting to know what aperture you shot each one at, what film you used, and the focus points.

The second shot looks like a more difficult exposure than the first, because of a broader tonal range. On balance, well exposed as it doesn't lose the highlights, and preserves some shadow detail. But it is one of those shots where sometimes it makes sense to let either the highlights or the shadows go. All-in, a good test subject. The first shot doesn't have as broad a tonal range, so seems an easier exposure.

Ya gotta take it out and shoot some rolls, leaving all the other lenses home! :-)
frederick_muller
Christoper, I would echo your remarks, but in reference to the basket in the first shot. Paul, that basket would make a nice, up-close still-life test.
paul_neuthaler
Kodak 400 Color Print C41 -- I think both exposures 1/125 @ 1:5.6. Also was testing my new VCII little meter I bought from Stephen G. @ Cameraquest. Seems to work fine. Can't wait to get into a closet & shoot B&W @1.4!! By the way, Frederick, did you get my email ?
frederick_muller
Hi Paul. Got your message and you have mail.

That little VC Meter II is nice isn't it? I also use it on an M2. The 90mm frame corresponds almost exactly to the meter's field of view. So you can push in the frame selector, select the area you want to meter, and lock the meter at the same time. It's pretty neat.

35mmdelux
Shoot some Velvia or Reala when you get a chance. The fast Lux ASP breathes new life into slowish films.
stric
I think you'll love your 'lux. It's a great low/available light lens. Here are some of the shots I've taken with it:
-night shot, aperture wide open

-indoors shot, again, wide open

fredonian
Congratulations Paul. You've taken a plunge while I've only taken a dip in comparrison. I've finally landed myself a Summaron f/2.8 for my M2 as you had suggested over a year ago in my thread. Though you did not suggest a goggled M3 version, it's what I ended up with. I had virtually stalked auctions for a year to no avail, but finally landed one that was within my budget. Thanks for the suggestion and your photo's are wonderful as usuall. Regards-Charles
