andreatau
Hei folks Following my previous posts on whether or not the M7 was a good idea for very low temperatures and whether the semi-spot meter featured by M7s is convenient for shooting slides, I made my decision and got some gear.. And because another camera, in addition to Leicas, had always been on my wish list, namely an XPan, I decided to do something that will be considered wise by some and silly by others (many?): I spent the budget I had thought of for a new M7+50mm and got instead a really mint M6 + Pre-Asph 35mm f2 AND and a like-new- in-the-box XPan with 45mm. And still I saved quite some money. I'm not sure you give a damn about this, but after annoying the community for months with my loud-thinking it seemed to me almost due.. Coming up, some photos, but first I need to develop some film. By now, get my very last attempt at doing Leica-style photography with a D70.... leslie_cheung
Hmmm...so that's leica photography. Have fun with your new toys:O)
Karim Ghantous
Andrea, congrats, I hope you enjoy your presents to yourself. ;-) I like your photo, too.
andreatau
Leslie, I aknowledge that the above shot is far from the best example of Leica photography (whatever that is..). It was just my miserable attempt at taking a decent photo of unaware people in available light.. :0)
leslie_cheung
I could careless what leica photography is really. I do think you made a great choice in getting the xpan and the m6 +cron. The xpan is probably the only gear in my wish radar. Send me an email whenever you're bored with it. Best.
Rob F.
Andrea: You bought right!
michael_paris
You see this channel is truly evil, I lurked and read messages and sometime ago I bought an M6, I began shooting again, it's more addicting then crack and about as expensive. Now I am saving for an MP. Guys you will all go to hell! Mike :-))
paul_neuthaler
Good for you: let's see how long you will have these two beauties before you "reconfigure" your equipment. That's really what goes on here -- in a big way.
john_brewton
Just because Paul does it, doesn't mean everyone else does! :)) Congratulations on your new equipment. The photo you posted is really what Leica is all about - unobtrusive vignettes of life. Good shot, Andrea.
andreatau
Thanks John, and Paul is right to some extent: buying/selling photo gear is what many of us do most of the time. I myself have bought and sold pretty much, but there are things I'll never get rid of, first of all my old Hasselblad and next, most likely, this Leica M6. brambor
Good choices. I'm sure you'll do well with the XPan. I just checked your portfolio and I think I have admired your aurora pictures sometimes in the past. Now I checked it again and I love your subject choices. Gread job. eliot_rosen
Andrea. Congratulations. You will probably want to buy an M7 at some point. :-) Your folder on Auschwitz and Birkenau is terrific. I hope everyone looks at it. Really bone chilling stuff.
dougmiles
That sounds like a very rational choice, Andrea, and I wish you good luck with your fine new tools and good light for future pics I hope to enjoy seeing. :-)
cameron_sawyer
Bob wrote: "Gut licht!" If you're going to write in German, you should try to write correctly. First of all, nouns in German all start with capital letters. Secondly, "Licht" is neuter, and the adjective "gut" has to be inflected. The ending for nominative or accusative case is -es. So: "Gutes Licht!" or "Ich wuensche Ihnen Gutes Licht!"

al_kaplan1
Now you can lust after an M2 and a first model 8 element 'cron so you can enjoy the pinnacle of Leitz engineering and bokeh beyond belief!
