this is a copy from the FAQ page of photo.net. restrict image size to 511 pixels to show up in the post. larger and they will be a clickable link.

How do I upload a photo?

Photos uploaded to photo.net must be in jpg format, less than 100k and no larger than a 800x600 resolution.

There are two areas on photo.net where members can upload photos:

If you go to your workspace (log in and click on "My workspace" in the top right of the page) you

will see a section called "Your photos". Click on "your portfolio management page" or "uploading a

single photo" to being uploading photos to your portfolio.

Members can also log in and go to the gallery page (http://www.photo.net/gallery) and click on

"Manage" under the heading "Your Portfolio" to get to your portfolio.

Once you are in your portfolio, you will need to enter your equipment before uploading images.

Please add at least one of each of the following types of equipment to the "Equipment" section first by

either choosing the "Equipment" link in the gray tip box or by choosing "Manage your equipment"

under the "Your Equipment" section:

Cameras

Films / Media

When you have added all required equipment, choose the "Your Portfolio" link in the navigation bar

above your equipment table to return to your portfolio.

You are now ready to add a photo to your portfolio.

To upload a single photo:

choose "add a single photo"

upload a file

enter the required information about your photo (don't forget to specify the camera and film/media used in

the equipment area)

choose the "Add this photo" button at either the top or bottom of the page to complete your upload

What size should my photos be?

Within the limits mentioned above, this is up to you. Many members tend to upload very low resolution images

because of concerns about copyright infringement; however, this tends to make the images hard to see, especially

in photos where the details are important. Around 500 to 800 pixels in the long dimension is a compromise

between copyright concerns and viewability that is favored by many members.

More information about file sizes and quota can be found in the Photo Posting Guidelines

For a pic with a post (like this)- you type the words in the box, then hit "enter". It pops up a "confirm" page and THERE is where you enter the picture, before confirming.

SOME of the forums don't allow photos, curiously- the regular unarchived general photography forum doesn't, if I remember right. If you get to the "confirm" page and there isn't a place to browse for photos- well, no photos allowed on that one.

I'd suggest posting one on this thread just to see if it works.

Or you can go big. Upload your picture to your pn gallery, then click on it to enlarge it, then right click over it and copy the url address under properties, and then copy and paste it in this html code. When submitting, make sure you enter html and not plain text. <center><img src="COPY THE WHOLE URL HERE BETWEEN THE QUOTES"></center>

Skinny,

What Eric said; upload to your PN gallery and then link like this:

----- clip ------

<center>

<a href="http://www.photo.net/photo/1208096">

<img src="http://d6d2h4gfvy8t8.cloudfront.net/1208096-lg.jpg">

</a>

<br>

<i>Leica IIIf, Elmar 50/3.5.</i>

</center>

----- end clip ------

The <center> </center> tags purpose is obvious; to place the image and text centered on the browser window.

The <i> </i> tags turn italics on and off.

The <br> tag places a carriage return in the HTML sequence. White space has no effect.

The <a ...> & </a> tags define a link. This is further defined by the href="..." description. Copy the URL of your gallery page to make the image clickable as a link.

The <img src="..."> displays a picture originating in an URL. Find that by right-clicking your gallery image and choosing "Properties" from the contextual menu that will appear (in Win XP at least). Highlight the URL and then copy it to the clipboard. Paste it between the quotes.

This is posted as Text to display the codes properly. Next we'll see the above in action...
