colleendonovan Posted February 26, 2006 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Hi all. I used to be able to open a RAW file from my Canon 20D automatically in the raw converter when I clicked on the file. But now I click on the file and PSCS opens, but then it gives me an error message saying that it's the wrong type of file. HELP! What do I do? I just did a wedding and I need to start processing. KenPapai Posted February 26, 2006 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Adobe camera Raw 3.x works fine with the 20D. Sounds like you are using the previous version of Photoshop, ver. 8? Darn, I wish I could help you. Were your Windows file associations messed up? That happens sometimes if you install some other graphics package recently. I'll have to ask my husband since he's the computer nerd, but it's hard to explain to him what I'm talking about because he doesn't kow much about cameras,PS, etc. Thanks Ken. The last tiem the computer went down was about 8 months ago, so I can't figure out what happened. I think I'm going to try uninstalling PS and then re-install it. Ugh. dan_n1 Posted February 26, 2006 Share Posted February 26, 2006 If you re-install PS.CS, you may need to go Adobe site and download the Camera_Raw_2.4 plugin in order to read .CR2 files from 20D. Unlike PS.CS2, PS.CS read only .CRW files. PS.CS2 read .CR2 without problems. Before re-intalling PS.CS you may just download Camera_Raw_2.4 and install it. The one you have now may be corrupted. paul - Posted February 26, 2006 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Since PSCS doesn't natively handle the 20D's .CR2 files (CS came out before the CR2 file was introduced), you may have somehow lost the <a href="http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2701">Camera RAW 2.4 update, which you can download from Adobe' website</a>.
