geoffrey goldberg
Buried deep in the options on the small screen is an electronic shimming adjustment. Has anyone used this, or have any documentation on it? Doesn't seem to be in the manuals, perhaps it was a later firmware addition..
Is it for adjusting the back to the camera, or a correction for each lens on the camera? Any ideas on how it works - do you just adjust it and see if the alignment makes a difference?
Cool feature, would like to know more. Thanks!
bradleygibson
I can't try it at the moment as my kit is at DHW for the 3.10a3 upgrade.
But I've not seen it--what firmware are you on, and how did you bring it up?
Best regards,
-Brad
geoffrey goldberg
current firmware, 3.10A3. Its in the menu on the handle, scroll through the options. It says AF Focus, and can go forward or backward in small (?) increments. It may be to align the AF only, and have nothing to do with the back?
bradleygibson
I assume it's not the number of shots to take when focus bracketing?
If so, then interesting, I hope it works the way I hope it works! :)
I'll ask DHW how to use this while I am corresponding with them on my upgrade and will let you know.
-Brad
tak_l_jasper_poon
If I make a guess it could be for 'chip plane depth adjustment'. In large format, Cambo Ultima has the same feature, since different makes of chip has slightly different chip plane depth values. if that is the case, then you have to callibrate it with your particular digital back and then stay with the value in the future. bradleygibson
That makes sense. I've asked DHW, waiting to hear back on this.
DHW has both my camera and my digital back while they do the upgrade. I will definitely check this setting upon return to see where (if) they set it.
