How to resize a particular layer in Photoshop?

  1. Hey all, I am trying to resize only one layer of a PSD file. The
layer contains an image with a transparent background that I want to
resize to fit in a generated glass. The image was dragged from
another file, but takes up the entire canvas, when the glass I want
it to fill only takes up 1/4 of the canvas.

How do I shrink the image down to the size where it will fit in the
    glass?

    TIA!

  2. I would open a new file and drag the layer to it. Then you can resize
only that image and drag it back or copy it and paste it into you
    original image.

  3. Edit / Free Transform

    Or rather, CTRL-T.

  4. Ctrl T for Transform is part of the answer. First go to Navigator and reduce the overall image so that you have some space around it. Now do the Ctrl T which will give you the handles to "pull" the image in. If you hold down the Shift key while dragging the corner in the image proportions will stay the same.
