bart feliciano
I've disassembled the helical portion of my Collapsible summicron in order to relube it. However I'm unsure how to reassemble it properly. I can get all three screws back in with no problem, but I'm sure that I don't have infinity focus, etc in the right place. Does anyone have any reassembly instructions (preferably with pictures)? And please, no "send it off" responses. I merely need help in lining everything up so that infinity, etc is correct. ronald_moravec1
You should have marked the mating threads as they came apart. Now it a matter of keep trying until it works. Take the focus threads apart, rotate, then screw back together and see if the marks line up the way they should.
aizan_sasayama
sounds like you didn't mark where to screw the mount back on. try it from different starting positions. you'll hit the spot sooner or later.

john_lee16
Here's a link on how to check inifinity focus indoors: http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-123.html
huw_finney
If it has an infinity lock and if that works all is OK. The starts are quite far apart, infinity in the VF is good enough, try them all.
feli
Send it to someone like John van Stelton, at like Focal Point, so he can stick it on his optical bench and properly align everything. http://www.lhsa.org/repair.html
john_shriver
Note that it's quite easy to nick up the ends of the starts such that some starts are hard to get started. This makes it extra frustrating. Patience. Avoid force.
john_shriver
Another check. There is a correct protrusion of the rangefinder cam when focused at infinity. If this is an M mount lens, it's 6.5mm from the mounting plane, if this is a screw mount lens, it's 7.5mm from the mounting plane. Since the helical is the rangefinder cam on a 50mm lens, that's another way to know you're on the right start.
