How to photograph reflections in glasses

Hi,

I have an idea for a photo that I'd like to take that involves a

closeup of a 1/4 face with an important reflection in the glasses of

the model. Part of the reflection will be that of an illuminated

monitor.

Normally, for a monitor, you can combine flash exposure with the

ambient light from the monitor. In this case however, the slow

exposure needed for the monitor would cause a problem (since it's

projected onto the model).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim

I would consider multiple exposures. One with the model wearing the glasses. Second with the glasses in the same position relative to the camera but held stationary. Combine them on separate layers in photoshop. Of course that assumes some digital manipulation. Tougher if you want to caputre it all on a single frame of film.
The tough part is getting the glasses to be in the same spot, but in photoshop if you just unmask the desired reflection then it doesn't need to be as accurate while you can still retain any rough perspective/curves from the shape of the lenses on the glasses.

That's assuming you can't just use a higher ISO or brighten the monitor to get a fast enough shutter speed...or get the model to hold really still... to avoid motion blur

Another alternative, since you're heavily cropping the face, is to just use a mannequin head that looks real enough.
