muellerworld Posted June 14, 2003 Share Posted June 14, 2003 In case anyone is thinking about heading to New Zealand to do anytramping (hiking) in the upcoming austral summer (November-March).<p>This is just an EARLY reminder that in about 3 weeks time the <ahref='http://www.doc.govt.nz'>Department of Conservation</a> (DOC)will start accepting permit applications for those New Zealand walksthat are categorized as "Great Walks". (Yes, you do have to plan 4-6months ahead of time!)<p>On <b>TUESDAY, JULY 1 2003</b>, you may apply for permits for thetracks listed below. While you can apply by sending in your requestvia mail, I have <i>ALWAYS</i> gotten the permits I wanted by callingthe correct booking centre on opening day (starting on July 1st 2003,they will issue the permit instantly, take credit card details, andmail you the permit).
