shuo_zhao
Hi everyone,

I think the way my D40 names its image files has become somewhat inconvenient for me. Unlike my D300, which names files starting from DSC_0000 up to DSC_9999 and then DSC_0000 (the sequence doesn't get "zeroed" until it actually reach the next 10000th image), My D40 starts from DSC_0000 at the beginning of every shoot. Things becom problematic when two seperate and unrelated files sharing the same name from two different shoots/dates end up in the same folder...

I've been trying to change that on the camera (via the menus), but couldn't find such setting...

Let me know what I can/should do. Thanks
User_276104
In the "SETUP MENU", change the "File no. sequence" setting to "On", and it will continue to count upwards. Info is on page 86 of the manual.

shuo_zhao
Got it. Thanks!

Looks like mine was in the "simple menu" mode; that's why I couldn't find such setting...
