How to add "Blue Tint" to my product shots?

Hello,

 

I've recently explored product photography and I have a great project coming up. I am shooting

medical instruments to be put in a product catalogue. I have been told that I can use my creativity which

is great. I've seen fellow Photo.netters doing something with blue light...

 

I shoot Canon 5D, 580EX II Speedlight, and Tungsten light mounted on a stand with different colored gels.

I messed around a little in my studio, but...

 

Do I need to adjust the color temperature in my camera? I'd like to get that cool blue glow that will

make the product look futuristic. Any suggestions?

I think the trick is to gel only one of the lights; perhaps the rim light. Otherwise you could simply adjust the color temperature of the RAW file for the same effect (as gelling all the lights).

but now you've got something else to figure out... t

You've got 2 options....either PS or use a combination of tungsten and flash. Your flash should produce your blue lighting effect when you're in incandescent setting...then fine tune it on PS.

Yeah, figuring out adding attachments...haha. I sized to 168KB, is that too big? Geez...

I've been following the flash advice, and I have acceptable results. Thank You!
