However, the name label of the screen says Focusing Screen A instead. The also look like the Screen A I already have .
Does it mean both of them are false item?
Kevin
Giovanni Cappai
As I remember from my L-B the L is quite visible on the side. Also the difference between screens is huge (no exaggeration). I also had the same incident when I bought an L screen to end up with a plain one. Just the box was marked as L. Sorry....
dan_k2
The easiest way is that the "A" on a standard screen is in a square, the laser cut version has it in a circle.

Dan
rick_janes
The screen itself should be labelled "Focusing Screen L Type A"
awahlster
What happens is that a photographer buys a screen upgrade or choses a different style screen. When it arrives he pulls the old screen out and the only place to store it is in the new box. Time goes on the body may be sold off or a widow sells off the gear or the photographer just for gets. A seller who does not know the gear or it's history goes to sell it and lists the item based on what is says on the box.

I ran into this three times over the years when I was buying gear.
rick_janes
For that exact reason, if the screen's actual label isn't shown I'll ask an eBay seller to verify screen type. Most will do so, and update their auction specifics if necessary.
