I just got a nice new Canon S70, which has RAW capability. It makes CRW files. I downloaded them in two ways from a compact flash reader: directly using Windows Explorer, and using Canon Zoom Browser. I can open the CRW files in Zoom Browser, process them, and convert them to .tiff files - no problem. But I'd like to use the Photoshop CS RAW capability. When I try to open the CRW files in Photoshop it says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." But lots of sources say that Photoshop CS can process CRW files. Anybody know how to do it?
Hi Joe, Unfortunately all RAW files are not created equal - even within the same general brand of digital camera like Canon. So Adobe must update Photoshop CS practically every time a new camera comes out. Hopefully they'll have an update for CS that supports the S70's RAW files. You'll need to go to Adobe's site to check. Good luck!
Adobe's Camera Raw website is here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html We'll have to wait until Adobe has an update available that supports the newest range of digital cameras.
At PhotoshopWorld two weeks ago Adobe mentioned that there will be an update in of the Camera Raw plug-in in the next 30-45 days Will Adobe ACI Photoshop
