notoriousfrench
I am trying to shoot some high school football pics. I am trying to see ifanyone could tell me a good film to use. Does anyone still shoot film for sports anymore? Well all I have is 400 f5.6 lens. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Greg
Rick Waller
I shot high school and college football for years using film and my F5. Not sure which 400/5.6 lens you have, but most such lenses are awfully slow to autofocus which makes the task more difficult. In any case - I strongly recommend using Fuji 800 speed NPZ. You are going to need the speed. Since I shot with a 300 2.8, I always exposed the 800 film at 640 since most print film (especially the Fuji ones) love a slight overexposure. In your case, try it at 640 if you have enough light - otherwise shoot it at 800. This film also works well exposed at ISO 1600 and processed with a one stop push. I found that pushing NPZ 800 to 1600 yielded better results than using the Fuji 1600 film. Good luck. feel free to email me if you want any more specifics. randrew1
Is this a night game? The f/5.6 lens will be rather slow for most HS footbal fields. If you can borrow a faster lens, give it a shot. If it is a day game, I would still use 800 speed film.
