awahlster
Check out the Leica hidding in this ebay auction. At forst I though fake but then I go to thnking I have never seen that swastika emblem on a fake not like that. the patina looks good. But until better photo's it would be hard to tell for sure. http://cgi.ebay.com/CANON-X2-LEICA-X1-VINTAGE-CAMERAS-CAMERA_W0QQitemZ7536490570QQcategoryZ73445QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Just though some might enjoy seeing a different version of a fake or something really cool if it is a rare origional of some kind. Oh no connection and all that crap
stephen_ascherl
I believe that's a Hitler Youth emblem glued on a Leica...usually seen on the knife carried my HJ members...
michael_kastner
What? Your HJ members??
david_doyle
I doubt the seller is a fool, look through his feedback and you'll see that he has been buying up LTM cameras and such of late. It looks like a ringer too me: 'why here's a broken AE-1, a Canonet and a wartime Leica...' Oh and his buy it now price is almost 600 samolians... Hmmm... stephen_ascherl
...sorry...meant to say "by", not "my"...their is a scene in "Saving Private Ryan" where that type of knife is shown...
marbing
It is probably an 'enhanced' Leica with the logo added to increase the bidding. The logo could have been added years ago but I don't think it was original to the camera. By the way, isn't the photography in the example pictures awful? This guy SHOULD be selling his cameras because he certainly doesn't know how to use them!
andrew robertson
There's usually a good reason why some Ebay photos are blurry.
gabrielma
This sort of exploitation just gets my goat all the time. In England, of all places; it's as amusing as seeing an Osama edition camera for auction.
terry_rory
"or something really cool if it is a rare origional" What is cool about Nazi paraphenalia whether a rare original or not? (Are things 'cooler' because there is a symbol of a mass murderering death cult embossed on them?)
stephen_ascherl
That's sure looks like a real Leica to me! Can any of the expert folks tell me why it's not a Leica I Model A with a missing shutter release collar, and some glued on Nazi nonsense?
winfried_buechsenschuetz1
Beware, there are even some fake Leica I on the market, converted from FED/Zorki cameras. If this is a fake it was converted from an early FED still having the unthreaded shutter release button as on the original Leicas. I don't know (and don't want to know) whether the Nazi symbol is pure phantasy or not, but this symbol points us towards a source where many other 'Leicas' with Nazi symbols come from. paul t
It is suspicious. Why has the guy bought a Leica 1a (item no 7525407386), for around $430, then sells much the same camera, purporting not to know what it is? Presumably he's hoping people's nose for a bargain, or a mis-described item, will persuade them to pay over the odds. Don't know what the value of the other two cameras is, but looks like he's got an extra $200 for that Nazi badge...
35mmdelux
I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for nazi junk. Lets just leave it at that.
kf0gg
It looks like a Russian lens..Apitures on the front..
eliot_rosen1
I agree with Stephen. It looks like a model A Leica (from the late 20sor early 30s) with a placque containing a Swaztika glued on. It is not any kind of a wartime Leica. Not a particularly attractive camera, and the placque (which doesn't belong there), reduces the value, if anything. Nothing special here.
