david_kelly13
Getting ready to sell myK10D, i went to page 210 in the manual and followed instructions to reset the camera to its factory defaults in both rec and custom function menus. Then i turned the mode dial to the green setting. I don't remember where it was when i bought the camera, I always shoot in AV. i turned the camera off, and an hour later, prior to removing the battery and packing up the camera and its accessories, switched it on just to check. To my dismay the status screen still showed AV. And it continues to do so no matter what i set the mode dial to. have i failed to do a complete reset? michael_kuhne
I don't get it- how can a camera stay in AV when you switch the dial to green or P??
ronald_moravec1
Meet the tech support at the ninth hole! Sorry i use Nikon
michael_kuhne
Now, wait a minute. I do not own a K10D, but I do have a PZ-1p film model with a "user" programable mode. This is can be set to various operating modes, such as AV. Perhaps the "green" mode is likewise on the K10D. If so, just set it back to "Program" only mode. mc2imaging
"Green" mode gives the user no options like AF point select, program shift, and meter mode selection. I'm not sure why your status would still show Av if the mode dial is set to the green square. Are all of the other selectors set to green too (AF/MF switch, focus point, and meter mode)? Do you have a lens attached, and if it has an aperture ring is it set to 'A'?
jgredline
After you have reset the camera back to it original settings, you will need to go back to seetings/ user and hit save or it will revert back to where it was before. I have made the same mistake once.

david_kelly13
Thanks, Javier, you saved me a bunch of worry and my k10D is now clear of all my custom settings -it's essentially back to being a point and shoot from which the new owner can make it whatever he wants. But there for a while i was longing for Nikon's singe button "home to mama" feature.
jgredline
Your welcome. David, What are you replacing your K10D with?
david_kelly13
A K20D. I've only had it for two weeks but but it's love, baby, love. Everything the K10D did well this camera does better. CarlWeese was right on when he wrote something like " I was expecting K10D 1.1 but instead it's more like K10D 5.1"
jgredline
Dave, I agree. The K20D is really a great body.
