marymary
Hello, I know very little about cameras and have been trying to figure out what this is. This seems to be a friendly and helpful forum so will try here :) Is this one of those Russian Leica fakes I am reading about? I cannot find anything with this black and brass combination... John Farrell
It looks like a fake to me - no Leica had a threaded release button.
Greg M
Never seen an authentic Leica with the leather styling around the lens mount like that.

Karim Ghantous
So does a Leica have a cable release? Barnack Leicas did, but they were attached around the circumference of the shutter button. This is definitely not a Leica, even accounting for the fact that it may have been repainted. It could still be fun to use, though.
james_elwing
It's a traditional Russian fake Leica, with the shielded cable release, rangefinder and viewfinder windows of the Russian copies from which it is made, along with their version of the vulcanite imitation leather covering used by Leica. It is a rough copy of the 1932 Leica II. All Leica collectors need at least one of these
JDMvW
All Leica collectors need at least one of these I'll say. Also true for Kiev relabeled as Contax. If you are not saddened by the revelation of its true status, you may enjoy Russian Fake Leicas
