grand canyon photography

I have an old SR T MC-II with a polar filter that I want to use at

the Grand Canyon. I've been told that I need to step down even with

the filter attached. But how far down do I need to go to avoid over

exposure? I appreciate any help.

Step down or stop down? If you're talking exposure, it's the latter; if you're talking about matching different filter ring sizes together, it's the former.

What film are you shooting? If you're doing slides, it never hurts to bracket +/- 1/2 stop or so. If you're shooting print film, I wouldn't bother bracketing. In either case, make sure you don't over-polarize -- it's way too easy to get overly polarized skies in the high desert.
