wingedrabbit
I heard this on NPR. A camera collector from MA is selling his camera collection from 50 years of collecting.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php? storyId=4994389

Enjoy
ellis_vener_photography
if i had $20,000,000 I'd go for it. Given the depth of the collection --cameras and photographs in five or ten years, intact that will seem like a bargain price.
andrew robertson
Why would you hide a Tessina in a cigarette box? It'd be awful hard to use like that...
dan_fromm1
Interesting. I'd thought that Jack Naylor had sold his collection to the government of Japan. I take it, then, that this is a new one.
frank.schifano
"Why would you hide a Tessina in a cigarette box? It'd be awful hard to use like that." To give a sense of scale. The camera is really small and fits in a shirt pocket.
andrew robertson
I'd want one if they didn't have a reputation for being so fragile. What I'm really waiting for is a digital camera that's as small as my Minox B, with all the same manual controls. That'd be cool.
yakim_peled1
Wouldn't buy them even if I had the money. I'd rather have only one camera and use it. Thinking some more, if I had that kind of money, I'd have more time for shooting. Wish I did :-( Happy shooting, Yakim.
juergenf
After collecting over 30.000 camera items, he apparently lost interest in his hobby, these things happen ;-)
stephanie_stout
Actually, I heard the report and he did not lose interest in his hobby. He is getting old, his wife and children do not have an interest in taking over his "museum" and he said he belives selling is the best way to ensure that the collection stays together and his heirs are protected! He said he could probably get twice as much if he split it all up, but he thinks it should all stay together because it is such an amazing display of the history of photography. MTC Photography
"Why would you hide a Tessina in a cigarette box? It'd be awful hard to use like that..." It was a standard practice of secret agents. Tessina is small, 2.5x2x1 inch in dimension, it fits in a cigarette box easily. When equipped with nylon gear, the Tessina is almost silent. The camera lens is on the side, punch a small hole on the side of cigarette box to align with the Tessina lens, then the secret agent can use it for surveilance photograph. The Tessina is driven by a master spring, each winding of main spring can last 6-8 pictures without winding. The shutter release is in front of camera at the narrow side, squeeze the cigaretee box takes a picture, one can squeeze up to 8 times. Keith Melton's The Ulimate Spy Book has pictures of a Tessina hidden in cigarette box, in a cut out book
