Good second-hand shops in Amsterdam

Hi all -

I hope I'm posting this in the right place, apologies in advance if

not. I'll be travelling to Amsterdam in a few weeks and I recall

reading in a post on Photo.net that used Olympus equipment is

plentiful in camera shops in the Netherlands. I'm in the market for

an Om-1 or OM-1n, and maybe a lens or two. So, in short, where should

I go, and where should I avoid?

Thanks,

Gavin.

Hi Gav,

You are likely to arrive at Schiphol airport and/or Amsterdam central station.

Buy a magazine called Camera Magazine, which has lots of ads with many Amsterdam shops. You will discover that some are more expensive than others, but as far as I know they are all up to professional standards and have good return policies.

Hope this helps, otherwise you can mail me or do a google search for shop websites.

PS And don't forget to hire a bike to visit all those shops!

My personal favorites

- Camex adress: Parnassusweg (Amsterdam South)

- Camera Peeters adress: Weteringsschans (Amsterdam Centre)

- Peters Foto Cine adress: 1e van Swindenstraat (Amsterdam East)

- Foto Oosterbaan adress: De Ruyterweg 22 (Haarlem, near Amsterdam)

Lots of hype, but don't perform (and look very tempting as they are in the city-centre and you are very likely to run into them))

- Foto Amsterdam adress: Damrak

- Foto Schweitzer adress: Haarlemmerdijk

- Foto Professional adress: Nieuwendijk
