chuck_j
A friend of mine has asked me to take some photographs of his son and his race kart to give to sponsors. The photo will most likely take place in a garage. I don't really know much about flash photography. I have a Nikon D70s with a built in flash. We are going to come up with a single background. All that now here's my question. What is the best way to go about this to minimize shadows and get a good photo with the tools that I have. Thanks in advance. stwrtertbsratbs5
You really should use off camera flash. And read this site: http://strobist.blogspot.com/
mark u
Inside a garage sounds like about the worst place to try to do this without having a big studio lighting rig. You would do better out of doors, using the flash to provide some light fill. Some other ideas: Try to get some action shots at an outdoor circuit - they are likely to be more attractive to sponsors. If you really want to do an indoor shoot, try to persuade a car showroom to give you some space and make use of their lighting - again, you could use the flash to provide a modest amount of fill, but keep the background well away from the subject so that you don't get harsh shadows. chuck_j
Thanks Mark, I think we could use a showroom. I'd prefer the outdoor shot myself, but we still have a foot of snow on the ground so the background would be cluttered with snow piles.
mark newcombe www.mcnphoto
Get outside and dump the background out. These go well with sponsors.<div></div>
