George Lauterstein, Leica photography and digitals

Recommended Posts

I noticed an entry below by Tony regarding George Lauterstein's website. I spent a day with George a few weeks ago when he and his family came to visit in California. He is a wonderful person and photographer. His website shows examples of work done with Leica M2 and screw mount cameras and the "mystery" section is from his new love, an Olympus 3030 digital. He photographs always and only in black and white. Please visit his site. He actually will give you free digital images of his work...top quality and quite unbelievable.

I will try to attach a textured photo I took of George near San Simeon California on July 26th in the dimness of the early morning light.

Do visit his site: http://home.flash.net/~leicam2/index.htm

I second Todd's comments. George has a wondeful website and I find

the work presented both interesting and inspiring. Also, as

advertised, George sent me two of his prints at no cost. Please take

to time to view George's work. I hope you will enjoy it as well.

Thanks, and best of luck George!

Just goes to show, you can photograph most subjects with most cameras.

George's material and subject matter is almost always large format

territory... Wonder why he picked Leicas and small format over even

medium format? There are no obvious advantages other than

portability, and some disadvantages come immediately to mind.
