Gear giveaway

  1. Ok folks it is gear give away time "paying it forward" as they say from the gear giveaway I received from Kevin Bourque.
The camera is an Ansco Speedex 4.5 with the f4.5 lens and uses 120 film for 2-1/4 square negatives. A user manual can be downloaded at http://www.butkus.org/chinon/ansco/ansco_speedex/ansco_speedex.htm
Condition: Amazingly the bellows are good and the shutter works but, as is common with these, the lens needs to be lubricated because it is "frozen". It is a simple fix and the "how to" has been mentioned many times by the camera tinkers at http://www.kyphoto.com/cgi-bin/forum/discus.cgi?pg=topics Aside from that it is in generally nice condition. The metal has some "freckles" as you can see on the accessory shoe but it polishes up nicely as you can see from the front where I have cleaned it already.

The requirement to get this camera is to pay me for the shipping. I am not even going to ask you to post something as a gear giveaway (but it would be nice if you did).

  2. Ok, looks like we have a winner with Gene from Florida.

But, if you didn't get this one, there will be more to come.

  3. Might that be Gene M? If so, it couldn't have fallen into more capable hands.

  4. No, Gene lives in Massachusetts.

  5. back in the early 1950's a friend had a similar camers.
    I always wanted one.
Of course then I did not have an enlarger!
Later. when I got a 35mm slr, the desire Faded..
Of course now you must mail order 120 film.
    with a $35.00 minimum.

Still. in the back of my mind, I look at cameras like this as desirable
but not REALLY something I would really use.
