chris_waller
The French photo agency, Gamma, famous for its photojournalism, is in financial trouble.
http://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyleMolt/idUSTRE56R2TE20090728
It looks like it may go the way of the other French agency, Sigma, which stopped commissioning work and just became an archive about ten years ago.
leicaglow
Chris, that's interesting. I don't work with a stock agency, but wondered if they build clauses into their agreement to say what happens in the event they go under. Do rights vanish into ether if someone else buys the service?
chris_waller
I would guess that rights remain with the photographer, and royalties likewise. I'm wondering if the 'new photojournalism', i.e. people with mobile 'phones, as in Iran etc., is signalling the end of photojournalism as we have known it, and thus we can expect to se more agencies go belly up?
