nels
Just came across this news story where designer Galliano was successfully sued by William Klein for plagiarism.
Any have links to the pics used by Galliano under the lawsuit? nels
My initial search turned up nothing from the ad campaign, and it isn't clear to me how closely the Galliano ads resembled Klein's photographs.
les
This is similiar to some patent issues. In the never-ending pursuit of the money people try to copyright and/or patent ideas and styles. What an utmost idiocy... You can copyright or patent a particular solution, or an implementation of something, or a physical thing - but a style ?! The world is going crazy. dbcooper
If the photographer created a UNIQUE 'signature style' and someone else copied it without paying royalties, then it's stealing, plain and simple. I'm glad the court found in favor of the photographer. This is really no different than past cases of car, guitar, and motorcycle companies copying another's unique styling and getting caught at it. Even George Harrison was found guilty of plagiarism for his song 'My Sweet Lord', even though the lyrics were different - he copied The Chiffons' tune 'He's so Fine'.
