peter_olsson
Since I'm now the happy owner of a new STABIL-speed tripod I'd like to inform about the guy's who builds them new English web-site: http://www.stabil.nu/enghome.html The tripod is strictly oriented towards outdoor users and performs beatifully for that task. The total flexibility, the cup-feet and the ability for a tall person, like me (192 cm, 75,6 inches), to adjust the length of the legs rapidly without ruining my back makes me happy that I finally bought it. I believe the fact that the upper part is made of American oak will be good when the winter comes (up here at the polar circle). I bought the tripod because some nature- photographers recommends it. The only drawback as I can see (sofar) is that the tripod is 1 m long when folded, however since there's no centerpost it's easy to carry over the shoulders. There was also a hook included to attach under the tripod head mounting plate, to hang some weight from when it gets windy I suppose. The hook uses the same tripod screw as the tripod head which had the for me unexpected benefit of locking the tripod head good in place. I have no connections to the man who builds these tripods, I live more than 1000 km North of the place. I just happen to like the tripod and think other nature-photographers might like it as well. If I'm wrong, just delete this thread please.
