Free Lightroom for Raw Shooter purchasers?

Recommended Posts

Last July, I received an e-mail from Pixmantec announcing that Adobe had

acquired the company, including RawShooter. The message contained this promise:

"Now that we've joined the Adobe family, we must emphasize that RawShooter

users also are now Adobe customers, regardless of whether you ever purchase

another Adobe product. Your satisfaction matters to us. Specifically, Adobe

will do the following:

Offer a free download version of Lightroom 1.0 for customers who bought

RawShooter | premium prior to July 12th 2006, 12 noon European Standard Time.

Given that Lightroom 1.0 will serve a much broader range of functionality and

will be priced at a higher price point than RawShooter | premium, we believe

this represents a great value for our customers."

Since then I have heard nothing from Adobe or Pixmantec, and can find no

reference to this promise on www.adobe.com . There seems to be no way to

contact Adobe unless you own one of their products.

Have any Raw Shooter owners actually received their copy of Lightroom? If so,

could you please let me know how you went about getting it? Thanks.

I am a Raw Shooter Premium owner and I did get my free copy of Lightroom. The offer is only for the RS Premium version.

I recieived an email from Adobe with instructions how to obtain the serial # for Lightroom from Adobe. I downloaded the trail version, installed it with no problems. I was already using LR 4.1 beta and enter the serial number in the trail version. I have my copy of a registered version of LR.

Look for a email from Adobe. If not contact them and have your Raw Shooter Premium's Serial number handy.

I got my email and downloaded a copy of Lightroom, but I think I still like RawShooter better. Lightroom does more, and is more intuitive, but the interface on RawShooter is quicker to get around on. I can process more images per hour with RawShooter.

Also, my computer's cheap AMD processor, while reasonably fast for most things, has no SSE2 support, and bogs down quick with just a few hundred images loaded in Lightroom. That's also an issue with some other non-current computers, but even with a faster processor running pictures through Lightroom won't be as quick.

The bottom line for me is, I will continue to use RawShooter until I upgrade cameras (and computer).
