simon_bruxelles
Is this another enterprising fraudster using Leica as bait or a seller who got cold feet? This M2 was listed as a one day no reserve auction. The write up and the pictures look legit and the camera generated quite a bit of interest. I checked back to see what the winning bid was only to discover the auction was ended early, apparently because of fraud. There's a story here, somewhere. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? roger_michel
there have been a spate of these apparently. they are often one day auctions because the seller id has been hijacked. check and see if the seller typically sells camera gear; i think you will find that he does not. often the auction listing, including pics, is lifted directly from an auction in the completed sales file. ebay shuts them down pretty quickly, but often not before the one day listing has ended. then the fun starts. cheers. small_aperture
You say it was ended 'apparently because of fraud'. Did you contact the seller? If so, and it was a hijacking I wish they caught the bastard who did it.
djl251
Fraud - Naw. The seller simply got out of the dress business, left Hawaii, moved to PA, started selling expensive cameras, dumped paypal, wants only MO or cash, started selling worldwide not just US. You guys are SO jaded. Glad to see that EBAY has given the crooks the benefit of the one-day auction. So now they can fleece-while-you-sleep. Good eye Simon ! Aoresteen
Hum, could it be that he got a very good offer locally and sold it? That would explain why the item "is no longer available". Or a collector contacted him, made him a great offer, and he sold it to avoid the eBay fees.
b_b13
Y'all are far too cynical. There are tons of great deals to be had on Ebay from perfectly trustworthy people with stellar records. Rob F.
I see what you mean, Jon. Obviously another suspicious one.
