andrew_schank
Since I got my D200 a few weeks ago, I am rediscovering the joys of manual focus and my older AIS lenses. The fact that the finder is larger and brighter makes it possible to get more accurate results than I was getting with the D70. Plus, sure is nice to be able to use the matrix meter on manual focus Nikkors. Today I put my old manual focus Kiron 7 element 2X on my 300mm f4.0 and tried to manually focus some birds in the back yard to see if the results would be acceptable. Fun to have the equivalent of a 900mm f8 lens! Because of the bright finder (and no split image black out like on my N90s)it was quite easy to focus even an F8 lens system. Years ago I tested on a chart this Kiron 2x against the Nikon TC200 & 300, and it was better performing than either of them. Here is a photo taken with the 300 +Kiron 2x and D200<div></div>
