darryn patch sydney austr
Will a Fl mount lens fit onto an FD body? I think it does according to some brief research I have the chance to pick up a 300/2.8 FL lens and will buy it if it fits an F1.
icog
It will fit. You will need to meter it stopped down though. If the price is good go for it.<p> -Lionel
pvp
Generally, yes. Certain FD-mount cameras cannot use certain FL lenses. See the manual for your camera to avoid potential problems.
User_502260
The Canon Camera Museum website shows that the 300.2.8 FL-F was introduced in 1974. It must have been in the works for some time because that's three years after the introduction of the F-1, FTb and FD lens line. It took Canon several years to introduce FD lenses to replace al of the FL models. From the photo of the 300/2.8 FL-F it seems to have SSC coating. This may be the only FL lens made that way. The first 300/2.8 FD version came out in 1975 and was much smaller and lighter. If you intend to use the lens hand held then the FL model might not be for you. vincenzo_maielli
The FL lenses work very well on the FD bayonet mount. Particularly, work very well on the Canon F-1 old, FT-b QL and EF that all have a simply and quickly way to use the stop down metering. I mount on my F-1 old and FT-b QL a couple of FL lenses: 35/3.5, 58/1.2, 85/1.8 and 135/2.5. Ciao.
