First M3 image (partial nudity)

I'm so thrilled with the performance of my new M3 I had to share!

Very smooth skin tones. Which lens was this? BTW, you're not going to believe how much film you burn up in the next year!

The lens is the 90mm Elmarit (current version), shot at 2.8 @ 1/60, with HP5 at 400, processed in DD-X, and scanned with a Canoscan FS 2710.

I like the shot. My only nit-pick would be the blown-out arm and shoulder.<p>How did you meter this?

Nice shot. I agree with Scott. You probably wanted to spot meter on her cheek, or to

have simply bracketed, to have prevented the blown out highlighting. But all in all, a

marvelous piece.

Yes, I agree with the observations about the blown-out upper shoulder area. This obviously would be corrected when printed, along with a slight dodge on the face area to bring it a bit more out of shadow. I've never been able to get a good full range scan from black & white negatives and I may switch to flat bed scans from my final fiber prints in the future.

Nice shoot and subject, Keith. Now that blow-out would never had happend if you'd bought "my" M3... ;-)

Looking at the responses, as to metering, the only way the shot could have been improved would be to have placed lighting to even out the light. Note, the face is dark, had you metered on the cheek as suggested, the shoulder would have blown out further. What is nice about this shot is it well exposed given the strong contrast in the shoulder verses the face. Without artificial light, which may ruin the mood, the shoulder will be somewhat light.
