I finally found some original 19mm Leitz filters (about 15 dollars/filter) that

I can use on my Elmar 50/3.5 without having to take them off when changing the

aperture setting.

So if you're looking for a solution for using filters

while still being able to change the aperture on your Elmar 50/3.5 - this may be

an option for you.

I located some Walz filters in the proper size for the Elmar. However, they weren't much help from the aperture setting standpoint because the aperture tab fits so close as to operate with dificulty. Of course using the special shade (if you have one)does facilitate aperture adjustment. Nevertheless, I found that leaving the aperture alone and changing the shutter speed was a more practical solution except in very critical situations. Using a SOOGZ and modern filters is (for me!) a more practical MO. Additionally it permits the use of a more efficient rectangular hood.
