Fire West of Yosemite

  1. For those of you thinking of coming to Yosemite Valley. It is quite smokey due to the Carsten's Fire burning about 35 miles west of Yosemite Valley. I saw posted an incredible night image taken near Glacier Point. Yikes, I live only 15-20 miles east of the fire. Time think about what I'll take and what I'll leave.

That's terrible, Hugh. Sorry to hear that news. Fingers crossed the experts get it under control before you have to consider such drastic measures.

  3. Hugh,
Thank you. Hope you don't have to evacuate. Friends did that. We've been close. Here's a list:
People, pets, medicines, documents, photos, backups, computers that aren't backed up.
    Good luck.

  4. Good luck Hugh - that's not something that's easy to contemplate. I hope they get it under control before it becomes an issue.

I have a co-worker who plans to climb one of the peaks next week. I wonder if he'll be able to go now.
