lonnie_bailey
I am just beginning 8x10 photography and need some help with finding afilter to fit the lens. It is a 12" Gundlach Radar and doesn't seem tobe threaded. I will be shooting only black and white and just want abasic collection of filters. What kind of adapters will work on this? light-zone
Rolled tape attached to the outter rim of the barrel. Calumet offers a spring loaded barn door type lens shade with a "channel"for 75X75 filters.
karl_faller
Lonnie, Call Steve Grimes at 401 762 0857 and explain you problem. He will have an answer. Maybe... an oversized filter holder that attaches to the outside of the lens that is threaded to carry the appropriate filter. Karl
mark_blackman1
you could try the Lee Push on filter holder: http://www.leefilters.com. For a far cheaper solution, try using blue-tac, I've used it on a 5" Wray Lens on a Crown graphic shooting B&W to good effect.
tim_hicks
The Lee Push-on adaptor is a good option. One home-brew solution I have used is to take the nearest bigger size of filter step up ring or a discarded screw filter ring with the glass removed and then fix some self adhesive velcro or other material of the right thickness to the inside of the step up ring/filter ring. This will then slip on to the lens barrel without the need to put sticky tape on the barrel. Filters and hoods can then be fitted to the front screw thread of the adaptor. mark_sampson
Calumet sells a filter holder called a "Xenophon" that fits behind the lens. It's worked quite well for me, on the one lens that has too big a front ring for my filters. Not as convenient but otherwise a good answer. keith_pitman
Try gels. They are inexpensive and come in several sizes. Enclose them in the filter frames sold by Calumet and just hold the gel in front of the lens for exposure. In addition, they add nothing to all that weight you're carrying. s.k. grimes inc
My patented slip on filter design is here . This can be made to convert the lens so that it accepts a standard filter size.
