jonten 10
Hello leicaphiles, My camera is not advancing past about the 26th frame. I use 36 shot film always and i have never had this problem before. Everything seems to work fine until I get to about frame 26 on the counter. so far one roll came back with only about that many pictures on it. I have'nt checked the rest the other rolls I shot off, but just the same, the film won't go beyond frame 26. My M6 is only 7 years old, and althought I don't pamper it, I do not abuse it either, plus in all the time that I have owned this camera, I haven't used it constantly. Does anyone have exprience with the problem or know anything about it? I've had other Leica cameras before and never had this problem. I really love this camera , and expected It to be more durable. any adice or info on this would be truely appreciated. Thanks.
steve_unsworth1
I had a similar problem with my M6 except that mine 'jammed' at frame 10 or so. In my case it was caused by the washers under the rewind crank corroding and causing the mechnanism to jam. It's an easy and cheap repair.
jonten 10
STEVE, Thanks for the quick response. If your right about the problem, all I can say is "what a drag". I always expected to get more miles out of my camera before a repair would be needed. Still thought, to me I dosn't make sense that a washer in the rewind spindle would fail so easily. I wonder if this is something that gets replaced whenever Leica does an overhaul? Anyway thanks for your reply
huw_finney
Very easy to do, search my postings there is a bit about removing the rewind crank with pictures. I did this with a film in the camera too.
steve_unsworth1
Huw, I think the page you're thinking of may be this... http://www.asc.upenn.edu/usr/cassidy/leicaslacker/rewind.html I tried the fix but couldn't get it to work - I'm not very mechanically minded to say the least :-). In the end I sent the camera to Malcolm Taylor here in the UK and he fixed for me.
kamal_alyousuf
I believe I had a similar problem last year.In my case it was the 7th frame sometimes ,I had to send it to Germany for the repair. It works fine now. Kamal
