Film Camera Week for October 12

Recommended Posts

Greetings all, and welcome to our new thread. Post as many images as you like from your film camera. I'll start with some from a roll of Plus-X I processed and scanned over the weekend. Camera was Minolta XE with 50mm f 1.4 MC Rokkor.

Was wondering how quick someone would correctly recognize that plane. They flew it out there at Gig Harbor; great fun to see!

A great start to this week's thread! I finished a length of Ilford FP4 Plus that I'd loaded into a Canon Model 7 rangefinder fitted with a 50mm Canon f/1.2 lens. It was my first outing with this camera and I wanted to make sure it was up to scratch before moving it on. Now, I'm not so sure... Having studied the negatives I have to admit that it's a well-bred chunk of machinery. There's a pic of the camera over on the current "What camera..." thread. The film was developed in PMK Pyro and scanned on an Epson V700 Photo using Silverfast SE software.

Pretty sure Rick could use the bottom of a Coke bottle for a lens, develop in PMK Pyro and make me jealous.

Thanks, Brad, kind words, indeed. The lens performs far better than I anticipated, dammit! It produces a degree of micro-contrast that I really didn't expect in a lens of this design and vintage. And then there's that bokeh...I feel a fondness for it, coming on...

Great results from that Canon. I'm envious. I would love to find one at a good price although I'd probably have to go with the f 1.4 or f 1.8 lens. Canon had a great system and some wonderful glass to go with it. But it takes someone with your skill, Rick, to show this camera's full potential.

Thanks Mike, your comment is really appreciated. I came by the camera and lens by a stroke of good fortune, and I don't think I would have been willing to spend the kind of money they're asking on Ebay. Mind you, the Canon 50/1.4's are definitely no slugs. Here's an example of what the f/1.2 lens can do in colour, wide open, mounted on a Sony A7R
