Recommended Posts

Greetings all and welcome to our new thread. As usual, post as many photos as you want from your film camera.

I'll get us started with a few images from a roll of HP5+ that I developed and scanned this week.

The Celtic 28mm was a gift from my parents for Christmas of 1978. It still works great and looks good after all these years. It was may first wide angle lens. My dad noticed that I tended to borrow the 28mm from display more often than the other lenses.

From the archives, some Pentax Spotmatic images that I made about 8 years ago. Most likely on Fuji Superia 200 or 400. Meter didn't work on this one some used sunny 16 and luck to arrive at exposure.

I later gave this Spotmatic away to a Photo.net member when a local friend gave me a Spotmatic F with several lenses.

In the next photo. this group of charming young ladies spotted my taking photos from the balcony with my Spotmatic and asked me to take a group photo with one of their phones. In return, they agreed to let me take their photo with my Spotmatic.

Great images, everyone. James- like the McIntosh Amp, I remember seeing images of some of their 60's amplifiers in a couple of old catalogs that I have (1966 Lafayette and 1965 Allied). I don't remember if my dad ever ordered from them, but I do remember us both ordering from Burstein-Applebee. Now if I can get my linear tracking turntable repaired I'll be happy.

Pentax KX and SMC Pentax-M 50mm f1.7 on Pancro 400 in TMax Dev. for 1 Hour Semi-Stand. Wet-scanned on BSH & V700.

During the Boat Show in Sidney the local artists held a live painting exhibition, all lined out along the Sea Walk. Here is a few examples.

STAND-UP WORK.

At the time we had friends from Edmonton staying with us and after the Art Showing we repaired to the RUM RUNNER for refreshments. This photo of Ross was taken at f4.0 and reflects my unsteady hands. However, I draw attention to the strap which is carrying about $10,000 of the latest Nikon Full-Frame digital gear. I think on this occasion he had an 80-200 zoom on it. While i do not have either the money or desire to emulate his art, the detail and richness of his colour photography just blows me away. Auto Focus, Auto Exposure, Anti-Shake, 40mps and 5-6 fps just puts it in another world.

Here are a few frames from a length of Ilford FP4 Plus that I ran through a Praktica MTL5, making a very informal effort to compare the performance of the 30mm Meyer-Gorlitz Optik "Lydith" f/3.5 and the 28mm Super Takumar f/3.5. They're both fine lenses and I'd have trouble finding significant differences in their performance; I suspect the Takumar shows better edge performance, while the Lydith seems sharper in the middle, but in both respects the differences are minimal. Both lenses were M42 mount. I'll indicate the lens involved; the film was processed in PMK Pyro and scanned on an Epson V700 Photo using Silverfast SE software.

Of course, the 50mm f 1.4 is probably one of the most popular Takumars among M42 users. I have the latest one which is full aperture metering with a Spotmatic F as well as two older ones (one clear and the other a bit yellow). I use the yellowed one on my Fujica ST 605N since I like the filtering I get with it. Really like the very compact Takiumar 105mm f 2.8. Its small size often makes it convenient to use on my Minolta gear via M42 to Minolta adapter. This lens is dwarfed by my Tamron Adaptamatic 105mm f 2.5.

Uniroyal Plant, Detroit, 1969, as seen from Belle Isle

2108366922_F-1969-4-B-0049-For_jpegcopy.thumb.jpg.6f962f4a42cf48cc6453560d1e5b20b8.jpg The plant was closed in 1980, purchased by the city in 1981, and razed in 1985. Though various plans have been floated for redevelopment of this riverside property, environmental contamination resulting from over 100 years as an industrial site has been a stumbling block.
