Film Camera Week for March 23

Recommended Posts

Greetings, all. And welcome to our new thread. As usual, post all the images you want from your film gear. I'll start with some shots that I took late last week.

Took out a new-to-me Pentax MZ-3 for a spin. Happy with the camera. Please excuse that these aren't "straight" prints. I've been working on my darkroom/Lightroom skills to get my desired effect. All of these are shot on Kodak BW400CN.

In the store window. Port Hope, Ontario. Pentax FA 43mm f1.9 Limited.

JDM, the image from the Time Life camera is surprisingly good. IIRC, the lens could be stopped down from the f6 a bit for brighter light. My father-in-law had one and I gave him a Plus-X reload to run through the camera and he got acceptable photos.

Some people compare these cameras with the Diana (and its clones) but in my limited experience I found the Time Life and equivalent to be sharper and not have light fogging issues. Of course, mileage varies.

Great work, David Scott! There's quite a lot to be said in favour of winter when it comes to monochrome photography...

It's been a wet and dismal week here, so I've taken the opportunity to photograph a few old cameras in an attempt to clear a backlog. So, for a change, I'll post some of the images here, and I hope I might get out to take some proper photographs in the weekend.
