chuck_foreman1
I sort of forgot about this lens and I'm now glad to use it again after a long period.. I am referring to the Helios 1.8 for the Contax/kiev mount. I recall reading the later Kiev series 4AM etc, had this as the kit lens. I have used the Jupiter so much that I forgot this was even there.. So I used the Contax II with this lens. I was pleased in the landscapes it performed unexpectedly nicely. I did try to shoot stuff that I felt would suited well a Planar type lens... play to it's strengths....All with with....well ...mixed success. This was APX100/Kentmere 100 in D76. Little to no post processing. Scanned on Epson 500. rick_drawbridge
I finished a roll of Arista EDU 100 I'd loaded into one of the Voigtlander Prominents I'd pictured in the "What camera..." thread, and I'll post a few sample images. The lens was a 35m Voigtlander Skoparon f/3.5 and the film was developed in PMK Pyro. Playground Open Deco Angle Backwater
James G. Dainis
Rick, The tonal capture range in the "Deco" photo above is fantastic. I can even see detail in the shadows below the benches and no blown highlights.. Was Ansel Adams one of your students? That rivals anything he ever did. James G. rick_drawbridge
Thank you James, high praise indeed! While Ansel Adams is one of my photographic heroes, I'm still stumbling along in his footsteps. However, I do feel that the Deco image is one of my better efforts. The Pyro development is a huge contributor to the tonal range.
