Film Camera Week for June 22

Recommended Posts

Greetings all, and welcome to our new thread. As usual, post as many images as you like from your film camera. I'll start with a few from a roll of HP5+ that I processed and scanned this week.

Heavy equipment, Maxxum 8000i with Maxxum 50mm f 2.8

When I don't need the speed of an f 2 or faster, I find the f 2.8 macro lens a great lens to cover a lot of subjects.

Light equipment (my new lawn mower), same gear as above

Less time to maintain mower since it's electric so more time for taking photos.

south side of supermarket parking lot, same gear

wall detail at restaurant, same gear

One more. It's common knowledge that digital displays are pulsed (not continuously lit) but I never expected a slow shutter speed to reveal this.

Missing digits, shutter speed about 1/30 second. Vacuum fluorescent display of 2001 Chrysler Town & Country

Never had this happen. Usually if I take a vehicle in for servicing I snap a quick photo of the odometer to have a record of the mileage when serviced.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's images.

Rick- those Dial 35's are great little cameras. I had one (in Bell & Howell trim) for many years that I finally sold in "as-is" condition because the spring wound advance was not working properly. Ran a ton of Tri-X through mine during my undergraduate years. Even ran a roll of E4 High Speed Ektachrome through it and processed in Unicolor kit. Somewhere I still have those slides.

James- I'm going to miss that Mugshots location, I always enjoyed taking photos from the balcony.

Mike, this one was frozen up when I got it and it froze up again halfway through the roll.

I got it working again now, but will need to check it before loading it up again.

I shot it in manual mode, as I haven't tested the light meter yet

Modern alkaline batteries differ in voltage from the old mercury ones, like with the PX-625 batteries :(

Rick, with my Dial 35 the clutch was slipping early making it difficult to wind the spring motor. Advance problems were the main problem these little cameras had. I still am looking for another one anyway. Don't really care about the meter as the manual mode is easy to use. Currently the only half frame gear I have is a Fujica half frame and a Yashica Samurai,

This week I picked up a Pentax ME Super. I paired it with my favourite lens, the 43mm Limited, and shot a test roll of Fuji Superia 400. Scanned by the local lab (who gives fairly neutral scans) and post-processed by me.

4. Reflected. This one I applied perspective correction to square up the buildings.

5. For Sale. This was a five-image panorama that I shot handheld, and stitched together. I've had good luck doing this, and it makes my 43mm even more flexible, and allows me to capture the equivalent resolution of a big medium format negative.

A few more images from the Agat 18 half-frame camera, Kodak ColorPlus 200.

I've been having a blast using this little camera; it's silent, light (4 oz.), and doesn't need batteries. And double the images per roll makes for more carefree shooting. Currently trying a roll of B&W and look forward to seeing the results from it soon.

ARGH!!! B-8 Goggles!!! HISSSS

Sorry, that's my biggest World War 2 re-enactment pet peeve. ;)

Apart from that, it's a great photo.

Thanks I think. No shooting at the photographer I just press the shutter release. Funny you mention googles, while I was there I overheard someone complain about googles. Do you live in the UK?

OK, I'll bite. Google wasn't quickly forthcoming. The B-8 were USAF goggles, and wouldn't have been worn by tank jockeys?

OK Dave thanks, I have no idea whats authentic and what isn't. Some of the reenactors there were clearly much more serious about getting it just right than others. As I mentioned there was a complaint about googles being worn but, I don't think they were talking about the guy I photographed.
