rossb
A test photo from Point Lobos, Ca. I bought a 10 stop ND filter and this is my first go at it. Settings were F22 at 30 seconds. Delta 100 in ID 11 for 11 minutes..The ND filter is so dark you cannot focus with it on the camera so I focused first then put the filter on.
rossb
Another shot from Point Lobos. This is from the Cypress Grove in the park. I have never really captured what it's like to walk in that grove but maybe someday. Here is my shot. Delta 100, no filter.

Bill Bowes
The Kakoako Market occurs in the parking lot area of a large retailer. Inside they host many other activites that will attract customers into the various retail outlets. Aloha, Bill
Mike Gammill
A couple from the archives. Scans from late 1980's slides. I'm guessing the film was Kodachrome 200. The slides have that "relief" look on the emulsion side which is a Kodachrome characteristic and I think the light was too low for the ISO 25 and 64 versions. Also the grain is a good clue. The Gulfport IHOP, most likely Minolta SRT with the 35-135 MD zoom Another. I should have cleaned this slide more thoroughly. early dusk at the beach

donald_miller5
Used some Portra 800 and tried a new manufacturer (Unicolor) for chemicals. Used a Kiev 6 to photograph the big parade. Also got a new Sigma 100-200 mm zoom on a Pentax Spotamatic. Had to use my old Canon 8800f scanner. Now I have to decide if I like it the kit better or not. Also disregarded that old wives tale tale about using something called a tripod. Edited July 7, 2017 by donald_miller|
donald_miller5
Lost my text above. Summarize- Portra 800, Kiev6 for parade. Pentax spotamatic with Sigma 100-200 mm zoom. No tripod as recommended. Unicolor kit for first time. Canon 8800f instead of my new Epsom V550 preferred scanner. Sorry for all the duplicates, could not edit them out. Do not know how I got so many. Mike, I have a boat load of slides with dirt on tem from the 40's and 50's and afraid to try and clean.them. I just touch up the scans. Mike Gammill
@donald- I usually try a short blast of canned air on my slides. Otherwise, clean up with scanning software. Is that Sigma 100-200 the f4.5 model from the early 80's? I have one in Minolta MD mount and find it quite a good performer.
rick_drawbridge
Dodging torrential showers of rain once again this week, but I took a walk around town yesterday afternoon before the next cold front blew in. I think I must have been in an architectural sort of mood... The camera was the Mamiya 6451000s fitted with a Sekor 105-210mm ULD C f/4.5, and the film was Bergger Pancro400 developed in PMK Pyro. Argenticien
Ross, those Point Lobos pictures are great. I have photographed that very same Pinnacle (as have millions I guess), but in my case with an octogenarian 6x9 Bessa rangefinder. (Small subset from that and a Mamiya C330 at Big Sur, Oct. 2010 ). What you've done with the ND filter to enable the long exposure is superb. It is indeed exceedingly difficult to convey the grandeur of the cypress or redwood trees around Big Sur ... unless maybe with a swing-lens pano camera used vertically, or something odd like that. I really must get back to contributing to these weekly threads. I have a large backlog of processing, scanning, and organizing to do, and not enough time to do it in! --Dave
rossb
Thank you for your kind words Argenticien.. Point Lobos is a place i have been going to for many years. I do enjoy hiking about. I am going to continue to explore possibilities with extended shutter speeds and see where it might take me. I must say its been a while since i saw anyone shooting film out there. richard_
A few Art Deco shots from a couple of weeks ago; (will have more next week), here in Washington,DC. (1st shot with Tourist 620, portra 160; the rest with Nikon one-touch, Gold 200). Probably one of the most iconic Art Deco Bldg. in D.C. - 1100 New York Avenue. Built in 1940 was a Greyhound Bus Terminal. Currently commercial/offices.
