FD lens parts source?

My FD 28-85mm zoom has met the fate of quite a few others, suffering a broken mount. It needs the one plastic barrel piece (part number CA2-3969-000, by the way) that seems to be the weak link in this lens. Does anyone have any ideas about finding this piece? Thanks!

As of 2 1/2 years ago this part was still available from Canon parts

in New Jersey. I don't have the number handy but believe I have

posted the number on this site in a previous message on this lens.

I repaired the lens myself and also added 3 extra screws to

strengthen the mount assembly. I'm lucky that I have an optics lab

and machine shop plus an ex-canon repairman to call upon.

The parts depot number is 732 521-7230. I believe it is called a 6th

ring or intermediate ring and cost $13.52. The ring comes engraved

with a new serial number, but is otherwise exactly the same.

Hi Duane, good to hear from you again. I failed to search for your

previous post, which quickly supplied the part number I spent half a

day finding from a Canon parts diagram! But I did call Canon and was

told the part is no longer available. I've entertained the thought

of machining a duplicate from aluminum billet, but that's a project

for another summer. Thanks for your help.
