rnandwana
Is there a real solution to use FD lenses on EOS. I have heard mixed opinions. I am looking at a possibility to use FD 85/1.2L on EOS 10D. Is the quality compromised by the lens in the adapter? Is there a Good adapter with high quality lens available? rainer_t
Raj, there are adapters without optical elements, that will connect your lens to EF mount. But you will no longer be able to focus to infinity. If this is acceptable to you for example because you want to use the lens as a portrait lens, that might be a way to go. Just don't forget, that dSLRs like the 10D have no aid in the viefinder for proper distance setting ... so taking pictures at f/1.2 will be a pain. Other adapters have an optical element, thereby retain infinity, but reduce optical quality. See ... http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-manual-lenses/#canonfd ... for more information. bobatkins
Don't do it. I agree the answers are "yes" and "no", in that order. See http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/eosfaq/manual_focus_EOS.html
tommyinca
Its properly something one shouldn't try unless one know what to do or have fun doing the conversion. The EF85mm/1.8 is a better low cost alternative. Here is a picture of an converted FD85/1.2 with focus chip installed. a: Cut short FD85mm/1.2 bellow by some. b:Install an EOS mount on it. c: The hard part, deal with internal flare for such a bright lens.<div></div>
ben_hutcherson
There's someone over on the FD Yahoo list who installed a focus-confirm adapter on an FD EOS 1.4x-A teleconverter. The only problem with this combination is that you're still limited on the lenses you can use. I know from my own experience that it will work with the FD 100mm f4 Macro. It will also work with the internal focusing 200mm 2.8, and all lenses over 300mm provided that they don't have a rectangular light baffle at the rear.
